Mother Nature has not been on racing's side this summer. The Granite State Mini Sprint Club is almost half way into its season and it has yet to complete a full night of racing due to many rain outs. The club is hoping to get a full night of racing in this Sunday at Legion Speedway in Rumney, NH.
Lacey has been racing the 007 Mini Stock at Devil's Bowl Speedway the past few Fridays. The car was involved in a wreck a couple weeks ago that ended it's night and the night of many other cars on the 2nd lap of the feature. This past weekend, the 007 suffered a flat tire early in the race but the crew was able to get it changed and Lacey finished the race; coming home in 6th place. The Mini Stocks will be back in action this Friday night (6/28). The Sprint Cars of New England have also been haunted by the rain this summer. They were able to get a race in last Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway. Lacey had a career high 2nd place finish. She was able to lead the race for many laps before veteran driver Dan Douville passed her on the outside for the lead. Congratulations to Dan Douville on the win and to Chris Donnelly who finished 3rd. It was a great race and the #33 team was very excited with the 2nd place finish. Stephen Hutchinson in the #13 sprint car continues to have a great rookie season, finishing the 25 lap feature unscathed while gaining a lot of experience and having a lot of fun. Lacey and Steve will both be headed to Canaan Dirt Speedway on Wednesday July 3rd for SCoNE's special mid-week 4th of July show. Story take from http://www.granitestateminisprint.org
The 1st heat of 500’s took to the track and lit the fuzz for the action to come. #97 Rookie Laury Clark sat on the pole with #14 Mike Bubnis on the outside to bring the pack around for the green flag. Mike jumped out front of Laury to grab the early lead with #83 rookie Colin Jepson and #04 Rookie Kyle Belliveau waiting for a chance to jump in to the mix. Laury challenged Mike a few times but Mike’s experience prevailed. The ten lap heat finished with #14 Mike Bubnis 1st, #97 Laury Clark 2nd, #04 Kyle Belliveau 3rd, #83 Colin Jepson 4th. The 2nd 500 heat rolled out with all the high point cars and they turned up the heat a little more with #05 Troy Boissoneau (subbing for son Josh) and #33 Lacey Hanson leading the way. The green waived, Troy and Lacey raced to turn one with Lacey getting there 1st. #6 Larry Sheridan, #2 Zach Herbert and (returning driver) #25 Bill Lussier made their way pass Troy and set their targets on Lacey and the top spot. Larry had the best chances at Lacey but she ran a smooth line to keep the gap between her and Larry. Behind them Zach and Billy were battling hard for the 3rd & 4th place and Troy waiting for a mistake to take advantage of it. #33 Lacey Hanson held on for the win followed by #6 Larry Sheridan 2nd, #2 Zach Herbert 3rd, #25 Billy Lussier 4th, #05 Troy Boissoneau 5th. The 600’s came out in one large heat and minus one car because the track changed the racing order. #73 Rookie Jacob Williams and #74 Rookie Justin Eldridge made an all Rookie front row to help turn up the heat even more. Jacob and Justin were challenged right away for the top spot by #7 Drew Eldridge, #75 Johnny Chestnut and #11 Terry Reil. #37 Dave Morgan and the #8 of Derek Eldridge came from the last row making some great moves to work their way to the front. Johnny, Drew and Terry swapped spots to see who was going to lead and win the heat race. #75 Johnny Chestnut came across the line 1st to win the heat followed by a great drive from #37 Dave Morgan 2nd, #11 Terry Reil 3rd, # 8 Derek Eldridge 4th (from the back), #7 Drew Eldridge 5th, #74 Justin Eldridge 6th, #55 Don Collins 7th & #73 Jacob Williams 8th. The 500 Feature was about to bring everything to a boil with the heavy action. #97 Rookie Laury Clark & #33 Veteran Lacey Hanson lead the field to the green flag. The early laps of the race had Lacey leading Troy, Zach and Larry hot on her heels for the top spot. Zach made a move on Troy to take over 2nd spot Leaving Troy to do battle with Larry, Billy behind him. The laps where winding down and the side by side racing started to pick up. The last 5 laps Troy got by Zach and raced Lacey side by side to see who was going to win, while they did that Larry and Zach went side by side for 3rd and 4th while Billy wait for the right moment to make his move. Mike Bubnis and the rest of the field were battling the whole race. When it was all said and done #33 Lacey Hanson took home the top spot with #05 Troy Boissoneau just few feet short finishing 2nd, #6 Larry Sheridan got by Billy for 3rd, #25 Billy Lussier 4th, #14 Mike Bubnis 5th, #04 Rookie Kyle Belliveau 6th, #83 Rookie Colin Jepson 7th, #97 Rookie Laury Clark 8th, #2 (sub driver) Zach Herbert 9th and #28 Rookie Chad Southworth 10th with mechanical problems. Great job to all the Rookies. The 600 feature helped blow the lid off the night with all there action. The front row had #7 Drew Eldridge on the pole with #11 Terry Reil on the out side for the drop of the green flag. #37 Dave Morgan made a bold move on the low side at the drop of the flag to get near the front. Drew had the lead early but Dave and Terry got by him to take over the top two spots and leaving Terry to be the only one to challenge Dave. Drew fell back into the clutches of Johnny Chestnut, Troy Boissoneau and Derek Eldridge and you could have thrown a blanket over them because they were so close together. Johnny got by Drew but got to far sideways in turn two and Drew clipped the left front wheel and nose wing of Johnny’s car to end his night early. On the restart Dave got a great jump on Terry and was able to hold him off. Terry kept trying to make a move on Dave for the lead but feel short each time. When the checkered flag waived #37 Dave Morgan took home the win in his new chassis, #11 Terry Reil worked real hard to take home 2nd, #8 Derek Eldridge edged out his brother for 3rd, #7 Drew Eldridge 4th, #2 Troy Boissoneau 5th, #74 Rookie Justin Eldridge 6th, #55 Don Collins 7th (steady eddy) & #75 Johnny Chestnut 8th. |
